Document recording the sale at auction and transfer to a new ower of 12 slaves, signed by Richard H. Tutt (or Lutt?) apparently the judge, and several others. The sale was triggered by a "Judgement for a certain sum of money against Prudence Gaudy Surviving administratrix of Stephenson Campbell. And to satisfy which Judgement Execution was thereupon issued to me directed. And in obedience to which Executive levy was made on certain negroes the property of the said Prudence. And after giving legal notice of the sale of the said negroes did this the 3rd day of April 1820 proceed to expose to public outcry, at Edgefield Courthouse, to the highest bidder for ready money twelve of the said negroes (to wit) Mary, Sarah, Beckey, Peter, George, Old Peter, Charles, Pepe, Viney, Delilah [inserted over Delia, which was crossed out], Frank & Davi and the said negroes being thus exposed, were struck off the John Campbell at the sum of four thousand three hundred and twenty dollares at that price being the highest and last bidder for the same..."
