Instructions in medium Italian writing. Ornaments, serifs and decorations on some letters. The Corfu Machzor maintains a rare and unique version, which was never printed and was preserved only in manuscript form. This Machzor maintains the ancient traditions of version of Romania, Greece and Byzantium integrated with version of expellees of Spain. Beginning of Machzor contains poems for Shabbat preceding festival of Shavu’ot, known as “Shabbat HaGadol of Shavu’ot” according to custom of Corfu. [In all other congregations only Shabbat preceding Pesach is known as “Shabbat HaGadol”]. Machzor contains prayers and poems for both days of holiday, including poems unique to this Machzor. In some, names of lyricists and tunes noted [“melody of day of revelation at Sinai”, “melody of until when, G-d, will you sit in exile” and more]. Aside from the instructions according to Corfu congregation, Kabbalistic intentions were integrated in the Machzor [inside or above the text]. As well, a lengthy ancient version of blessing of ‘Baruch She’amar’ appears. Two versions of blessing of ‘Yotzer’, one with listing: “As customary in congregation of Greco” [Greek congregation segregated from Spanish congregation in Corfu]. [149] pages. 17 cm. Good condition, stains, few tears. Ancient leather binding [with damage].
