Manuscript copy written out by Peter Cunningham, for use in his 1854 edition of Samuel Johnson's Lives of the most eminent English Poets. At the top of the first page is written "Denham's Cooper's Hall, collated with the early editions by A. Cunningham..." A. Cunningham is evidently Allan Cunningham, Peter's father, a Scottish poet and author, and man of letters. Included is a photocopy of a letter written by Peter Cunningham in 1867, for comparison - this with rubberstamp of the Morgan Library on the reverse - and photocopies of four pages from Cunningham's edition of Johnson, highlighting Denham and the poem Cooper's Hall.
