Manufacturer: Wardle Artist: Frederick Hurten Rhead Description: Wardle Pottery scenic vase painted in heavy slip by Frederick Hurten Rhead Pictured in an oval panel is an expansive cloudy sky, a quiet lake, a far away sail boat and several trees on the shore. Slip trailed scrollwork encircles the rest of the vase. Height 10 1/8 inches. Impressed “Wardle England, 2006” and with a crown logo and signed “F.R.” within the scenic panel. Teensy glaze nick to base rim. Fine overall crazing. Good artwork and in otherwise excellent condition. Rhead only worked at Wardle for two years (1899 - 1901) before coming to America and his work there is rarely signed.
