Giacomo Bosio viveva nella seconda metà del XVI secolo ed era membro dell’Ordine, Fu incaricato di essere rappresentante dell’Ordine a Roma sotto il pontificato di Gregorio XIII. La sua storia giunge fino al 1571. Fu pubblicata la prima volta a Roma in latino nel 1594-1602. Qui è presentata nella traduzione di Pierre de Boissat, sieur de Lucieu, con le aggiunte di Jean de Baudoin. Opera in quattro parti, la prima contiene la storia dell’Ordine di Malta. The work contains much about Malta, Rhodes, Cyprus and the countries. Quest' edizione del 1643 è molto ampliata e solo la prima parte contiene la traduzione di Bosio. La seconda parte contiene gli Statuti dell’Ordine di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme, di Jean Baudoin; la terza parte consiste nel “Sommaire des privileges octroyez à l'ordre de S. Iean, by Frère Anne de Naberat”. Per questa ragione l’opera è talvolta attribuita ad autori diversi, Bosio, Boissat, Baudoin, Naberat. Ioannou, Cyprus and the Levant, p.46 (under Boissat).
