Letters discussing the relationship between art, religion and literature and on his own and Rousseaux's work. Malraux, statesman, writer and art critic, was Minister of Information from 1958, and of Culture from 1960-1969 -- several of the letters refer to literary groups and conferences on cultural matters. André Rousseaux (1896-1960), the literary critic of Le Figaro , championed the work of many 20th-century writers, and the perceptiveness and objectivity of his comments on their work won him their gratitude and friendship. His three volume work on 20th-century literature was published in 1948-49. (10)
