Beschreibung:

MAGNIFICENT RUBY AND DIAMOND RING Set with a cushion-cut ruby weighing approximately 10.11 cts., surrounded by two tiers of circular-cut diamonds, with pavé-set diamond shoulders, mounted in 18K gold With certificate 27162 from the Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the ruby is of Burmese origin "They brought me rubies from the mine, and held them to the sun, I said, They are drops of frozen wine." Emerson It is generally known that to achieve a combination of superb color, clarity and shape over 10 carats in an unheated Burmese ruby is extremely rare. From 1888 to 1931 the Burma mines were run by a British company, Burma Ruby Mines Limited, with relatively modern dredging equipment. By the end of the thirties, however, the mines were almost exhausted. For the last twenty years a tiny number of important Burmese rubies have come out of the ground. It is all the qualities of nature unaided by human technology that make this stone so special.
