On this last journey he was accompanied by Thomas Legh who had just produced an account of his own travels in Egypt" (Atabey). Much of Macmichael's book describes Legh's journey through Palestine and Syria to Constantinople which he does not write about in his own book. It also contains a description of Moscow, particularly concerning the rebuilding of the city following the fire of 1812.
