LUNA, Miguel de Historia verdadera del rey Don Rodrigo, en la qual se trata la causa principal de la perdida de España, y la conquista que della luzo Miramamolin Almançor [...] [trsl. from the Arab, 6th ed.]. Madrid, M. Sanchez, (pt title 4to: [16]-438-[pp. (usual toning and spotting, top corner of 1st ff. frayed, top margin of last f. def.). Mod. overl. vellum with remains of older covers pasted on, flat spine. Good copy. 6th ed. (1st 1592-of a late 16th-c. pseudo-history of the Islamic conquest of Spain, purported by its author to have been written during the 1st half of the 8th c. by a Muslim captain who directly participated in the events of the conquest. In his chronicle, Luna (1550-re-writes Spanish history and portrays the conquering Moors, who were considered to be the predecessors of the Moriscos, in a positive light. Ref.
