Fancy Pants was a remake of the 1935 film, Ruggles of Red Gap. It starred Bob Hope in one of his four films with Lucille Ball and was released a year before the first episode of I Love Lucy aired. This western musical comedy portrayed Lucy as a wealthy socialite who is trying to hire someone to teach manners to her son. Enter Bob Hope to fill the job as an actor who is playing a butler, and confusion ensues. Lucy wears many sumptuous and glamorous gowns in the picture and wears this gorgeous garment in the last quarter of the film. It appears that the finished piece seen in the movie was modified slightly from the sketch in that the fabric was changed to a deep forest green plaid. Exhibiting expected age and handling.
