The reputation of the Pharsalia, written during the reign of Nero and recounting the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great in the previous century, has risen and fallen over the years: in his dedicatory letter, Sulpitius argues for Lucan's greatness to rival Virgil's. Title with lines 4-5 reading ‘ Vincentini in to/tum’ , this typesetting of the title agrees with BMC’s first entry (IB. 23926).
