Venice: Aldo Manuzio, April 1502 An attractive contemporary binding, likely made in Milan for the Trivulzio family, with their arms on the upper cover and the author's name on the lower cover. The Trivulzio family were one of the most prominent families in Milan and Lombardy in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, known for the Trivulziana Library. 8vo (158 x 93 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: a-r8 s4: 140 leaves. (Fly and A1 loosening from text block, occasional light spotting.) binding: Milanese (?) russet morocco (164 x 102 mm), ca. 1510, golf-tooled with frame of two gilt fillets, sun with seven rays in corners, armorial in center of upper cover armorial, in center of lower corner LVCANVS in gilt tabula ansata, spine with three full bands, saltire in blind in two central compartments, head and tail compartments crosshatched in blind, edges gilt and gauffered. (Joints lightly cracked, spine corners very lightly bumped, spine sunned.)
