Condition: Subtle silvering at edges where overmat comes into contact with the print, minor creasing u.r. corner. Provenance: Acquired from the artist through Kiva Gallery, Boston, 1977; to a private Rhode Island collection. N.B. After meeting Einstein at the family business--the fashionable Jacobi Studio in Berlin--Lotte Jacobi began a lifelong friendship with the celebrated physicist, photographing him on five separate occasions, including this sitting at his home in Princeton, New Jersey, while on assignment for LIFE magazine. The original 1977 receipt from Kiva Gallery accompanies the lot.
