Beschreibung:

Lot consists of 3 regulation U.S. Navy cutlasses of the pattern usually designated 1860, but now known to be 1861. (A) 1861 dated, first year of Production. Ames maker stamp is visible. Serial numbered inside guard M/85 (=1085) a very early production cutlass. CONDITION: Very good. Markings are clear. Edged and point are good. Blade is clean, smooth metal. Cup hilt with no dents. Grip wrap and wire may be replaced, perhaps blade pad too, but this is a scarce date and in very good condition. (B) As Above. USN/DR/1862 crisply marked on ricasso with light "2." Ames mark very faint. Serial number 14M685 inside hilt. DR inspection stamp on pommel as well, with rack number 80. CONDITION: Very good. Blade has just minor spotting. Good edge and point. Cup hilt with no dents or damage. Grip wrap original. Wire missing, as is usually the case and purportedly done by order aboard ships. Scabbard is very good, but is a 1917 or klewang style. These cutlasses were still on board US Navy vessels into the 20th century and this could be a legitimate navy replacement. (C) As above, but with original USN Civil War riveted scabbard. Ames blade mark light but visible. Crisp USN/DR/1862 stamp. Serial number 25M96 (9 is light). DR inspector mark on pommel as well. CONDITION: Very good. Blade shows gray areas but with good edge point. Minor dents to cup guard. Grip wrap original with minor wear. No wire which is acceptable on these. Scabbard is scarce and very good, with minor finish loss, but no breaks and frog stud in place. A nice group of of Civil War issue cutlasses, with a scarce scabbard. SR Item Dimensions: Largest: 34 - 1/2". Name Value Blade Length (ALL) 26" Overall Length (A) 32" (B) 34" (C) 34 - 1/2" Paperwork
