1) Sharps & Hankins Navy Rifle saber bayonet. 20" semi-Yataghan blade, 24.5" in overall length. Muzzle ring diameter .82". Obverse blade marked 1861, reverse of blade marked in three lines COLLINS & CO / HARTFORD / CONN. Top of brass hilt numbered 66. Large pin in hilt at blade junction. Mortise cut for a stud with a .75" guide key. Brass hilt with 16 grooves. Ex-Trevor Bovee Collection with his old collection number sticker 588 on the back of the lower guard. 2) Saber Bayonet for the Whitney Model 1861 "Plymouth" Navy Rifle with scabbard. 22.375" semi-Yataghan blade, 27.25" in overall length. Muzzle ring diameter .93". Reverse of blade marked in three lines COLLINS & CO / HARTFORD / CONN with the top line arched. Top edge of hilt numbered 568. Large pin in hilt at blade junction. Mortise cut for a stud with a 2.75" guide key. Brass hilt with 17 grooves. Includes correct pattern brass mounted leather scabbard. ***Note description numbers may not coincide with photo order.*** Condition: 1) Fine. Blade mostly bright with scattered freckles of surface oxidation. Clear markings. Hilt with a pleasing mustard patina. Locking latch intact and functional. 2) Very fine. Blade lightly cleaned to bright with clear markings and some minor frosting. Clear markings. Hilt lightly cleaned to a dull golden color. Locking latch intact and functional. Scabbard fine with a pleasing patina on the brass mounts, some scattered scuffing and minor surface marks on the leather and tight stitching.
