(A) German WWII Heer M40 single decal helmet marked "SE64" for the maker of "Sachsische Emaillerwerk" and in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "10396". Shell exterior retains 75-80% of its original rough gray-green paint, with the usual dings, scrapes, patina, and freckling to worn areas. Interior retains approximately 55% of its rough gray-green finish, with stains, corrosion, and freckling. Heer decal is in approximately 80% condition with nice age toning and the required era coat of lacquer, which shows up nicely with a blacklight. Original zinc liner band is present with moderate corrosion. Liner is untouched, presents heavy wear, is crazed throughout, and is very dry. Original drawstring is present. Only one inch of each end of the original chinstrap is present with steel fittings. Helmet appears to be an untouched battlefield pickup. CONDITON: Decal and exterior finish are very good, interior is in fair condition. (B) German WWII Luftwaffe M40 camouflage helmet marked "Q64" for the maker of "F.W. Quist" and in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "1284". Camouflage pattern consists of dull ochre color paint being brush applied in a manner which allows the base blue-gray Luftwaffe paint to appear as if they were lines throughout the camo pattern. The camo paint covers approximately 65% of the helmet, with the usual dings, scrapes, patina, and freckling to worn areas. The Luftwaffe decal is not present, and has been "dug out" postwar, with the damage going to the core steel and now covered in patina. The outline of the eagle can be visualized. Interior retains 55-60% of its rough dark blue-gray finish, with stains, corrosion, and freckling. Original aluminum liner band is present with moderate corrosion. Liner is untouched, presents moderate to heavy wear, has crazing, and is very dry. Several liner tongues are broken off. Original drawstring is present. Only one inch of each end of the original chinstrap is present with aluminum fittings. Helmet appears to be an untouched battlefield pickup.
