Hufeland, 1762-1836, German physician, considered in Germany the propagator of pure holistic medicine according to the hippocratic model. He used hydrotherapy and spa treatments, coined the term "macrobiotic" to indicate the ability to prolong human life, then picked up by Oshawa in another sense.
