The Skunk Works facility of Lockheed Martin built this one-off experimental twinjet transport aircraft to prove it could design and fabricate a cost-effective C-130 successor, transforming a Fairchild Dornier Do-328JET into the X-55. This rare in-house model is said to be one of only two examples.
