Francisco Gomez de Quevedo y Santibanez Villegas (1580-1645) was born in Madrid into a noble family. Orphaned as a young child, he attended Jesuit school in Madrid, then university at Alcala de Henares. He also had a number of personal interests, including several languages. As a member of the King's court, he also took interest in religion and later would write anti-atheistic treatises. The end of the index of this book has "Laus Deo" (Praise God). Condition: Vellum bit stiff and normal yellowing; few tape repairs to covers; manuscript title to spine. Internally some occasional foxing/staining, but sound and complete.
