Original photomontage wrappers designed by El Lissitzky Condition : minor rubbing to wrapper edges and backstrip. Lissitzky was one of the principal innovators of modern typography and photomontage and created Suprematism with Malevich. He served as cultural ambassador to Germany where he met German Dadaists and taught at the Bauhaus. His cover utilizes his famous photo of Hans Arp a founder of the Zürich Dada movement in 1916 and later the Cologne Dada group. The poet Selvinskii was a leader of the Constructivist movement who was known to take a scientific approach to writing poetry. Originally a convert to Communism, he like so many of his contemporaries eventually grew disillusioned with the Soviets. One of 3000 copies. MoMA 750.
