LION PEUGEOT QUADRICYCLE VIN. #T17 - FASCINATING PEUGEOT QUADRICYCLE, ELIGIBLE FOR THE LONDON TO BRIGHTON VETERAN CAR RUN - IN ORIGINAL CONDITION AND WELL PRESERVED - RARE AND UNREPEATABLE - ORIGINAL ENGINE: SOLD TOGETHER WITH ORIGINAL CARBURETOR - RUNNING VEHICLE At the time Armand Peugeot started building automobiles, in 1890, his cousin Eugène, then at the helm of the family business, had yet to accept the idea of individual motorized mobility. Shortly after, the company split in two: Armand set up “Automobiles Peugeot” in Audincourt, while Eugène kept the Lion Peugeot family brand and the production of bicycles and tools. The agreement stipulated that Eugène could also build motorized quadricyles, but without seats (only a saddle for the driver) and without steering wheels (only handlebars). Accordingly, both tricycles and quadricycles were offered under the Lion Peugeot brand, all equipped with De Dion engines. They proved to be anachronistic, expensive and impractical means of transport that were soon supplanted by the nascent automobiles. In 1905 the Peugeot family was reunited and formed the company that is today part of the PSA Groupe. Little is known of the history of this particular quadricycle, other than that it has been well preserved and had two owners in the past ten years. Still running, it is all set to leave for the next London to Brighton. Sold with sale invoice.
