Contemp. half red shagreen, blind-ruled red buckram on covers, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, wr. pres. (sl. rubbed, head and tail a bit more, def. at upper edge of front cover). First edition illustrated with 20 steel-engravings: views and monuments (Benares, Calcutta, New Delhi, the Golden Temple...), picturesque scenes (elephant fighting, leopard hunting...) and 4 hand-coloured fig. types and costumes; vignette on title.
