Publisher's pictorial blue cloth gilt. 7 5/8 x 5 inches (22 x 13.5 cm); 318 pp., illustrated. Pale dampstain in the upper margin of the final third of the book. Laid-in is a telegram to Irving Imoberstag from "Auntie", (presumably Clara Ford) in Big Bay, Michigan, mentioning that Rankin (the Ford's driver) will meet him when he gets to Big Bay (the vast tract that the Fords owned) . Lindbergh and Ford were long-time friends, and Ford took a spin in the Spirit of St. Louis the year this book, an account of Lindbergh's flying career and of his epochal transatlantic flight, was published. This remarkable association copy is reputed to originate from the estate of Frances Imoberstag née Bryant, a niece of Clara Ford, who was married to Irving Imoberstag. They lived not far from Fair Lane, Henry and Clara's home on the Rouge River estate. An account of provenance is available on request.
