Place: [Ionia, Michigan] Publisher: Ionia Sentinel-Standard Date: [c. 1920] Description: 32 pp. Folding photographic plate of the author and companions atop Lookout Point (Tennessee); seven photographic portraits of the author and other soldiers in text. (8vo) 9x6, period maroon buckram gilt stamped "War Recollections / J. C. Taylor" on front cover. First Edition. Signed by Taylor on flyleaf. A very uncommon Civil War memoir. John C. Taylor served in Company K of the 21st Michigan Infantry from August, 1862, to June, 1865. After returning to Ionia he co-founded the weekly Ionia Standard, which merged in about 1920 with its rival the Sentinel and soon afterwards produced this book. OCLC locates four copies of this work, two in Michigan and at Duke and the New-York Historical Society. Lot Amendments Condition: Several neat stamps and markings of the Fletcher Academy Library; light spotting to cloth; some foxing; else very good. Item number: 184923
