Life Saving Awards from the Collection of John Wilson Salvation Army Life-Saving Scouts’ Bravery Medal, bronze, obverse inscribed, ‘Henry J. Hall’, no ribbon, with brooch bar, good very fine £350-450 Footnote The Life-Saving Scouts were the Salvation Army equivalent of the Boy Scout movement instituted by Baden-Powell. With original Certificate of Bravery, named to ‘Scout James Hall Guildford Troop’ ‘He plunged into the river at Stoughton & saved the life of a boy in danger of drowning. He brought him safely to land, then fainted from exhaustion.’, dated 18th October 1919. With a copied photograph of the recipient in scout uniform, with his family and copied extracts from Salvation Army publications relating to the rescue and the scout movement.
