Cloth on Vol. 2 slightly darker than that of Vols. 1 and 3. Mild scuffing to boards, a few bumped or rubbed corners, mild wear to spine ends. Folding facsimiles in Volume 3 detached and laid in, with some tears to the margins. Otherwise internals are clean and sound. First published in German between 1856 and 1859. Jahn was an art historian and archaeologist by training, but he is remembered equally for this biography, which was widely admired due to his extensive research and scholarly approach.
