Beschreibung:

An original watercolor and photograph composite image of the members of an American hunt.
c. 1880]. Gray watercolor wash, heightened with white, 32 heads of hunt members supplied as cut-around photographs mounted in position, signed 'T.A. Liebler delt.' lower right corner, blindstamp 'Reynolds Super Fine London Board' lower left. Sheet size: 18 3/16 x 22 5/16 in. A fine composition with the landscape and horses meticulously observed. The hunt is arranged in two ranks with the exception of one horse and rider out front (perhaps the Master of the hunt) and a second arriving on the right, an apparent late-comer. Nothing appears to be recorded about Theodore Liebler, which is unexpected, as he was clearly an equestrian artist of some considerable ability.
