Beschreibung:

Autograph letter signed by Jack London, in ink, on 4 half-sheets of plain paper. Jack London's Glen Ellen rubberstamp with date in upper right corner of first sheet. 15.2x23.4 cm (6x9¼"). Exceptional letter from Jack London to the model for one of his most memorable characters, the Malemute Kid, who appeared in the short story "The White Silence," collected in his first book, The Son of the Wolf. The letter is one of congratulations on the occasion of Jensen's impending marriage, not to congratulate Jensen, but his wife, in jocular fashion demonstrating London's esteem for his friend: "I do not congratulate you. If your intended is an average woman, then all the congratulations are for her; for you are way beyond the average man. When I was only a kid in the Klondike, I used to remark repeatedly to [Merritt] Sloper when you went out of our cabin. 'If ever a man was wasted that man was wasted through not marrying. If ever a man was made for a wife and children, that man is Emil Jensen..." The letter was formerly folded in quarters. With old envelope on which is written in pencil, "Letter from Jack London."
