Hand-coloured wood-engraved frontispiece and 44 plates after Horace Vernet numerous illustrations in the text (occasional light browning). Contemporary black hardgrained morocco-backed cloth, gilt imperial eagle in panels of spine, gilt border à la Du Seuil round sides, gilt edges (a litle rubbed, upper inner hinge broken). RESTIF DE LA BRETONNE, Nicolas (1734-1806). Monsieur Nicolas ou le ceour humain dévoilé . Paris: Jonquières, 1924. 4 volumes, large 8°. Illustrated. Later red half roan gilt, top edges red, others uncut, original front wrappers bound in. And 5 others. (10)
