(Some old marginal stains, C 9 - 1 0 with outer corners torn away, F1 and 2B6 with clean tears into text.) 19th-century speckled calf by J. Larkins, gilt panelled spine with crimson lettering-piece, marbled endpapers, yellow sprinled edges (lightly rubbed). Provenance : F. Hopkinson (late 19th-century bookplate). FIRST EDITION, second issue with variant title. Lassels, a Roman Catholic divine, bequested this posthumous work to Richard, Lord Lumly (afterwards Earl of Scarborough) who travelled with him on the last of his five journeys to Italy.
