James Franklin Sullivan (1852-1936) began his career at 18 contributing to the comic periodical 'Fun' a rival to the popular 'Punch', he was an early pioneer of the strip cartoon, his series "The British Working Man" ran from 1875 to 1901. He also contributed to Cassell's, Pearson's, The Strand Magazine, Tom Hood's Comic Annual, and Punch. A few of the drawings are signed in J.F. Sullivan, most are signed with his monogram, a few are unsigned. Lot Amendments Condition: A few drawings with spots of correcting fluid, light soiling and browning; overall near fine but not archivally matted. Item number: 260080
