Description: Large and Very Heavy Bronze Bust of the Victorious German Soldier, Presented to the Prussian War Academy in 1916 by General Hermann von Francois, Hero of the Battle of Tannenberg, the bust shows a well detailed helmeted German soldier looking menacingly to the right with heroic bare torso. Mounted to a large squared bronze base which has a plaque to the centre, “HERMANN von FRANCOIS GENERAL DER INFANTERIE VERLIEHEN DIESE STATUE ZUM PREUSSISCHE KRUEGSAKADEMIE 1916”. Reverse of the bust has a impressed stamping but this is not clear. Bust stands 64cms high, weighs approximately 55kg. A superb statement piece, with the iconic image of the hero German soldier. Hermann Karl Bruno von Francois, was one of the most famous German Generals of WW1. He was most famous for his decisive victory against the Russian forces on the Eastern Front at the Battle of Tannenberg 26th-30th August 1914.
