LANZA, Giovanni (b.1827). [An album of original drawings of Naples and its environs. Circa 1855.] Oblong 2° (317 x 485mm). 12 original pencil drawings, on beige paper, heightened with white, some with touches of watercolour or charcoal (170 x 255mm. and smaller), all signed 'G.Lanza', in modern window-mounts, one laid-down. Modern blue half morocco, lettering-piece on spine. Lanza, born in Naples in 1827, studied under Giacinto Gigante A good draughtsman and colourist he was perhaps best known for his interiors. His 'L'Interno della chiesa di Santa Chiara' was acquired by the royal family of Naples in 1852. He also contributed watercolours to the album of Napoleon III. The present selection of views of Naples and the bay are all coastal views, and includes two with Vesuvius in the background.
