Karten, 7 doppelblattgr. Tafeln u. zahlr. Illustrationen im Text. XL, 456; XIII S., 1 Bl., 512 S. Illustr. blauer Or.-Lwd., schwarz getönte Vorsätze, mod. Schuber. Yakushi L76. - Erste Ausgabe. - Kaum fleckig, hinterlegte Risse in zwei der Karten, zwei Bll. in Bd. I mit kleinem Eckabriss. Vorsatz von Bd. 1 mit eigenhändiger Widmung des Autors auf dem freien Vorsatzbl. verso des ersten Bandes an "Mr. Edward Moberly with kind regards + best wishes of the author / Henry Lansdell / 15 Decr 1894". First edition, 2 volumes. Lansdell, priest and explorer, often combined his travels into little known parts of Asia with his missionary-like ambitions, distributing multi-lingual religious tracts and bibles in prisons and hospitals. - Scarcely foxing, some restored tears to two of the maps, corner torn away to 2 leafs of vol. I; ms. dedication of the author "Mr. Edward Moberly with kind regards + best wishes of the author / Henry Lansdell / 15 Decr 1894". Bound in original pale blue pictorial cloth, black endpapers, mod. slipcase.
