4 vol., large paper copy on grand papier de Hollande (sheets measuring 475 x 330mm) , half-titles, engraved portrait of Jean Baptiste Oudry by J.Tardieu after N. de l’Argilliere, engraved frontispiece and 275 plates by Oudry after Aubert, Aveline and others, numerous woodcut head- and tail-pieces by Bachelier, 20th century ink ownership inscriptions to titles, more extensive to first title, some light foxing to half-titles, a few spots, some finger-soiling, but generally crisp and clean, contemporary French red morocco, gilt, spine in compartments and with rich gilt foliage and floral decorations, rubbed and scuffed, [Cohen de Ricci 548 “fort rare et très recherché”; Rochambeau Fables 86; Ray 5], folio, Paris, de l’Imprimerie de Charles-Antoine-Jombert, 1755-59.
