(10 13/16 x 13 1/16 in.), contemporary German vellum case binding, each cover with a different coat of arms blind-stamped at center within blind roll-tooled and fillet borders, lacking ties, traces of contemporary manuscript lettering at head of spine; engraved title creased and edges frayed, lacking plate 12 of the 4th series (leaf 57 of the manuscript numbering), folding plate 22 defective, tears or repairs to folding plates 11, 12, 13, 80, 100 and pl. 143, 4-sheet plate 80 creased, platemarks of pls. 1 and 8 shaved, mostly marginal foxing, some marginal soiling or staining . Engraved title, 2 pp. letterpress contents within type ornament borders, 240 engraved plates, including 15 folding plates of which 4 consist of 2 joined sheets and one of 4 joined sheets, many signed "GH", depicting figures and scenes from 27 Aufzüge (processions) as indicated in the contents leaf, some with elaborate floats, many with horses, a few with grotesque or monstrous figures, each series numbered separately in the plate (the four-sheet plate with multiple numbering), a few of the plates being variant states of the same copperplate, the 8 plates of the final procession being 2 plates repeated 4 times. Neat contemporary manuscript section titles, foliation, and corresponding folio numbers added to the contents leaf. Two or three different artists appear to have contributed the lively engravings to this copiously illustrated fête book.
