London: Longmans, Green, Brown and Longmans, 1856. The first English edition of Kruzenstern’s memoir, translated by his daughter Charlotte—very rare at auction. At the opening of the 19th century, Kruzenstern had commanded a brilliant corps of officers—including Lisiansky, Rezanov, Langsdorff, and Kotzebue—on the first Russian circumnavigation of the globe. This posthumous memoir is his first published biography. According to ABPC and RBH, no copies have appeared at auction since the 1940s. Howes B-386; cf. Lada-Mocarski 143; Tourville 537; Wickersham 5727. Octavo (222 x 139mm). Engraved frontispiece. Original green cloth, with ticket of Edmonds and Remnants (spine sunned).
