The cover is a striking example of Constructivist type design; Borisov also designed the book's layout. Blok, Pasternak and Mandelshtam, among others, spoke of Khlebnikov in the highest terms. Mayakovsky called him "A Columbus of new poetical continents," and Aseev wrote that in him "Mozart's musicality and Goethe's depth [were] united."
