KEPLER, Johannes (1571-1630). Tabulae Rudolphinae ad Meridianum Uraniburgi supputate . Edited by Jean Baptiste Morin. Paris: For the Editor by D. Marcelli and Joannes le Brun, 1650. 4 o (232 X 178 mm). Woodcut headpieces, initials. (Area on title weakened and damaged where stamps removed.) Contemporary Parisian red morocco gilt, covers ruled in gilt, gilt fleurons at corners, spine gilt-lettered and -decorated, edges gilt (joints and extremities a bit rubbed). Provenance : manuscript notes in ink on front flyleaves. Later edition, POSSIBLY BOUND BY LE GASCON. The Tabulae Rudolphinae , originally published in 1627, were the first tables based on Kepler's new laws of planetary motion and the first to employ logarithms, which remained the best aid to astronomy for more than a century.
