A COMPREHENSIVE ARCHIVE OF THE MAQUETTE AND THE PROOFS OF THE RAMPANT LIONS EDITION OF THE KELMSCOTT CUPID AND PSYCHE , WITH RELATED CORRESPONDENCE AND EPHEMERA, and one of 130 sets of the published work. Morris had discussed an edition of his The Earthly Paradise illustrated by Burne-Jones in 1864 and Burne-Jones had drawn some 60 or 70 illustrations for 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' section of The Earthly Paradise , of which some 50 were engraved as woodcuts, but the projected edition had been abandoned. An edition was begun in 1897 by the Kelmscott Press, but only 7 specimen pages were printed and the edition was once more abandoned after Burne-Jones' death in 1898. Many years later 44 of these blocks were discovered in the collection of the Society of Antiquaries of London and, using Kelmscott Press troy type loaned by the Cambridge University Press, the Rampant Lions Press produced their remarkable edition of this 'lost' Kelmscott in 1974.
