Kay Kanté On My Way, 2022 Acrylic on Paper Signed on Verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Kay Kanté is a London artist. She captures moments of ordinary life on the streets of East London (where she lives) and other places she visits. Her paintings are fleeting glimpses into the lives of others, finding beauty in the ordinary. The people in her paintings are as important as the scenes they occupy - London and Londoners are inextricably linked. Education Kay didn't have an art education. She trained and worked as a lawyer before she became a self-taught artist. Select Exhibitions/Awards Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021. Longlist Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter 2022. Gallery Representation London: under review. Cornwall: Veryan Galleries. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork I have done a series of three acrylic paintings of young men on bikes in London ('boys on Boris bikes'). They are all extracts from larger paintings, as I often catch cyclists in my larger paintings. I love the fun and freedom of youngsters going about their London lives on London bikes. They don't need to buy/store a public bike - these bikes are inclusive as well as kind to the environment. You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardises the charitable work we do. Anyone found doing will subject to legal action.
