"It became the model for maps of the 'island' of California for more than fifty years" (Goss). Also other features and informations appear here for the first time, e.g. the Mississippi delta named 'Mar Pequeno', 2 bays and names along the northern shore of California, place names changed from French to Spanish, "but of equal interest is the fact that Lakes Ontario and Erie are also both shown and named" (P./K.). - Contemp. col. in outline. Light browning and some spotting in places. Slight vertical fold at right, small paper flaw at bottom backed with paper.
