Ruth Bader Ginsburg co-wrote Civil Procedure in Sweden with Anders Bruzelius while living in Sweden in the early 1960s. Both authors were awarded honorary doctorates from Lund in 1969 for their work. During her time in Sweden, Ginsburg immersed herself in Swedish culture, learning the language and examining how the social norms regarding women differed between Sweden and the United States. It was there that she saw the possibility of women's equality in society, and gained a vision of how America could be transformed by it.
