JOURNEY INTO UNKNOWN WORLDS Nos. 35, 36 and 37 Publisher: Atlas [Indicia: Western Fiction Publishing Co., Inc.] Date Published: June-September 1955 Description: #35: Fine+ (6.5). Light spine stress, mild edge nicks. Cream to light tan pages. GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade; few reported recent sales at all. A 6.0 sold for $66 in 2011. #36: VG (4.0). Spine roll, reading rubs and creases, mild edgewear, a few small soil spots to back cover. Cream pages, light tan edges. GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 5.0 sold for $74 in 2015, and a 6.0 sold for $470 in 5/20.. #37: VG- (3.5). Several small COLOR TOUCHES to spine, spine ends nicked, a few tiny chips and short tears, mild handling wear, distributor's rubberstamp ("JUN REC'D") to "D" in "WORLDS." Cream pages. GPAnalysis: No reported Restored copies in any grade. A Universal 3.5 sold for $93 in 3/23. Covers and art: Sol Brodsky, Carl Burgos, Mort Drucker, Paul Reinman Jack Katz, Angelo Torres (Frazetta inks), Tony DiPreta, Mac Pakula, Manny Stallman, Sid Greene, Art Peddy, Ed Winiarski, Vic Carrabotta, John Forte. Par for the course post-Code product: Housewife desperate for dollars serendipitously discovers that her old teapot is "CRAMMED FULL OF ONE-HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS!"; moronic time-traveller butterfly-effects mankind into a savage state; kids make fast friends with space aliens, pre-E.T.; beautifully-drawn Torres tale inked by Frazetta, too banal to read but lovely to look at. A limited edition of ten hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a few dozen softcovers. Fun reference, great keepsake, fully illustrated, chockablock with obscure facts, gags, bon mots.
