First Edition. Harmon entered the service of the North West Company in April of 1800. He traveled to Lake Winnipeg, then to Assiniboine, where he stayed for seven years. He later went to Fort Williams, Athabasca, and New Caledonia. Includes an extensive vocabulary of the Cree language. The map, "Map of the Interior of North America, Engraved for Harmon's Journal, Annin & Smith Sc. Boston," shows the northern part of the United States and Canada to the Pacific Ocean. It measures 19x46 cm (7½x18"). With the small leather bookplate of Neva and Guy Littell, and old bookplate of Franklin Circulating Library of Troy, NY. Also on the front pastedown is an indecipherable ownership signature.
