Johnston, Geographers, Engravers & Printers TO THE QUEEN EDINBURGH & LONDON [c.1902] An 18-inch (45.7cm.) diameter terrestrial library globe made up of twelve colour printed gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees in both directions, hours and minutes, the Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans showing an analemma, ocean currents, submarine cable lines and isothermal lines for January and July, the continents outlined and coloured in shades of green, brown and yellow and showing towns, cities, rivers and mountains, Panama shown as part of Columbia, the Antarctic with little detail and no projected coastline ( large neat repair to Southern Pacific, some areas of discolouration ), with engraved brass hour dials and brass meridian circle engraved on both sides, the papered horizon circle graduated in degrees in both directions, days of the month and houses of the Zodiac, with brass roller fittings for the meridian, supported by four mahogony quadrant supports to centrepost with brass roller fitting, atop a square section mahogany column and plinth base with four raised scroll feet -- 46in.
