A RECORD OF THE ATTEMPT BY THE RADICAL REPUBLICANS TO OUST PRESIDENT JOHNSON in their bitter battle over Reconstruction policies. Eleven articles are given, plus testimony of certain witnesses. In the first of three attempted Presidential impeachments, Johnson survived his trial in the Senate by a single vote. In later instances, William Clinton was acquitted, and Richard Nixon resigned before the House could vote on articles of impeachment.
