John Sherman is best known for authoring the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890, which restricted trade between states and foreign nations and outlawed illegal monopolies. It was later used in Congress to break up the major monopolies of the Standard Oil Company and the American Tobacco Company. Lot Amendments Condition: Light rubbing and edge wear; tears and chip to foot of Volume I spine; Volume II front board detached and rear joint splitting; hinges starting to crack, faint toning to contents; autograph letter with original folds; else good to very good; still an attractive and clean set.
