Ltd., London (according to the label attached to the reverse of the frame); private collection and thence by descent Note: with thanks to Hugh Fowler-Wright for his assistance in the cataloguing of this work. Piper visited Treccarel near Lezant in Cornwall in 1943 on an artistic cycling holiday with his friend the poet Geoffrey Grigson. Sir Henry Trecarrel built a hall and family chapel in the early 16th century but the latter was unfinished. It was subsequently incorporated into the manor house and farm.
