JOHN DICKSON & SON A LIGHTWEIGHT 12-BORE 1887 PATENT 'ROUND-ACTION' TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTOR, serial no. 4654, for 1893, 28in. sleeved steel to damascus barrels (in 1959), the rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. GUNMAKERS. EDINBURGH.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 470, toplever engraved '1', tang-mounted gold pin cocking-indicators, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving surrounding game scenes of pheasant and grouse, the underside with a hound flushing snipe, the triggerguard with a pointer on point, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14in. figured pistolgrip stock (cracked at hand) with horn pistolgrip-cap, weight 6lb. 3oz., in an oak lined leather hammergun case (distressed) with John Dickson pictoral Princes Street address trade label Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was delivered 9th December 1893, best 12 bore patent hammerless ejector gun with 30in barrels and pistol-grip stock to M.
